Greehey CCRI currently has 3 Postdoctoral positions available:

Postdoctoral Position-A, Dr. Rao's Lab

The Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI) at the UT Health Science Center – San Antonio is looking for an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Manjeet Rao.

We are seeking a motivated, creative postdoctoral fellow to work on the role of epigenetic modifiers in tumor growth and metastasis. The candidate will be expected to participate in the ongoing efforts within the lab to capitalize upon high throughput screen data to identify novel epigenetic modifiers, examining their role in cancer, how they are altered within cancer and the consequences of these alterations. It is expected that the candidate will work with cancer cell lines and mouse tumor models.

The candidate must have a Ph.D. or M.D. in a relevant field preferably with less than five years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, and ability to conduct research independently. The ideal candidate would have experience using molecular biology, DNA and RNA isolation, Northern/Western blotting, RNA interference, establishing and using transient and stable cell clones, performing viability assays (short term and clonal assays),  and ability to implement a variety of assays as needed.  Experience in deep sequencing and bioinformatics will be considered a plus.  Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Additional information regarding the Rao lab can be found at: http://gccri.uthscsa.edu/MRao.asp

To apply, please send your CV with bibliography, description of research experience and contact information for three references to:

Postdoctoral Position-B, Dr. Houghton's Lab

Postdoctoral Position B

The Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI) at the UT Health Science Center – San Antonio is looking for an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Peter J. Houghton.

We are seeking a motivated, a creative postdoctoral fellow to work on childhood brain cancer as part of an NCI supported R01 award. The candidate will be expected to participate in the ongoing efforts within the laboratory group to identify novel therapeutic approaches that exploit BRAF aberrations in childhood brain cancers and the consequences of these alterations. It is expected that the candidate will work with childhood glioma cell lines and intracranial mouse tumor models.

The candidate must have a PhD, DVM or MD in a relevant field preferably with less than three years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, and ability to conduct research independently.  The optimal candidate would have experience using contemporary molecular biology techniques including construction of viral vectors, DNA and RNA isolation, immunoblotting, ChIP, RNA interference, and ability to implement a variety of assays as needed.  Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. To apply, please send your CV with bibliography, description of research experience and contact information for three references to:

Postdoctoral Position-C, Dr. Houghton's Lab

Postdoctoral Position C
The Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI) at the UT Health Science Center – San Antonio is looking for outstanding postdoctoral fellows to work in the laboratory of Dr. Peter J. Houghton.

We are seeking a motivated, creative postdoctoral fellows to work on signaling pathway crosstalk as part of an NCI supported Program Project Grant (P01). The candidate will be expected to participate in the ongoing efforts within the P01 group to identify how childhood sarcoma cells circumvent inhibition of insulin and insulin-like growth factor receptors, how receptor signaling is altered by inhibitors and the consequences of these alterations. It is expected that the candidate will work with childhood sarcoma cell lines and mouse tumor models.
